Kayo Dot’s 2003 release “Choirs of the Eye” is an avant-garde, post-metal, avant jazzcore album. The album features some spoken word type vocals, some jazz and metal influences, and at some points a Godspeed-esque influence can be heard. The album can be a bit too drawn out for some people at times and you might find the lyrics a bit silly, that is, if you can even comprehend what Toby Driver is saying above all the music. Overall the album is fairly solid and has some great instrumentation/experimentation.
This week’s album of the week was chosen by Matthew Pallares-Reyes.
